…ye old native upstate bumpkin, about 10 year NYC resident in the middle, and current NC bumpkin got to meet in person and spend time with some amazing photographers. I follow some, like when I met The Phoblographer Editor himeself, Chris Gampat…

…and some who I have had the distinct pleasure of interacting with previously online, like Michael Young.

Michael Young - 20260815 Brooklyn World Photography Day

Not long after I found out that Michael is a RICOH GR ambassador.

I am not surprised in the least. His street photography is amazing.

Exhibit A:

Up to this point our interaction was made up of my liking and commenting on his amazing work and him leaving an encouraging word on mine from time to time. What a nice man. Well then I got to meet him in person and we got to talk for a while. Even sat next to him during our group photo in Brooklyn.

Afterward we continued to communicate and that is how I found out about him speaking at the NYC GR 30th Anniversary GR Ambassador Panel Discussion – Deep Dive Session.

Happened to be in town as my wife visited her family. I was available and my ever supportive wife encouraged me to go… So I went.

I have a bit of history with RICOH GR and GR adjacent cameras. To read more about that and see the pics I took with my GR please see this post if you are so inclined.

This post. This post here. I broke out my therapy camera. The same rig I used for the Brooklyn event pics above.

The camera.

The lens.

Marcos and his Pentax K-1. Aka my gadget acquisition syndrome nemesis. So I made a point of not spending too much time pondering another run at it.

Thoughts.

My favorite camera and lens combination ever. Not a small thing. I spent years of gear churn to get here, but many months on this is the first combination that has ever stuck for this long.

Nice.

Anyhoo.

Happy capturing.
