Scenes Seen/Day Job Mentor Duties: Sony + Viltrox Lenses.
I say again. How Viltrox? How are you lenses so good and so affordable.
I mean… thank you. I appreciate it. But how?
How good are there lenses?
I am glad I imagined that you asked.
So good that, with the exception of a ridiculous portrait lens that I rarely use but is not going anywhere,…
…I only own Viltrox primes. And if you consider how infrequently that wonderful bus of a portrait lens gets used…
(but when I do truck it out it never disappoints)
…I only use Viltrox primes. And I am never disappointed.
The Air lenses…
… are so good optically that have not upgraded to their newer EVO primes, as I noted in this post.
And the 85mm EVO lens is so good…
…that I do not bother with their Pro variant. Especially with the ridiculous SIGMA on deck. Thought of trading the SIGMA 105mm f/1.4 for either the Viltrox 85mm f/1.4 Pro (f/1.4 but not 105mm) or Viltrox 135mm f/1.8 Lab (135mm putting me in yelling at my subject distance in my experience)… then I laugh because nope. Trade ridiculousness for an unknown, no matter how good?
That is a recipe for disappointment.
Anyhoo… Where was I?
Right. Interns. Day job. Sony. Viltrox.
In addition to mentoring interns I have also been tasked as program photographer including the documentation of proceedings and intern headshots.
Said another way my day job lets me play with my cameras on the clock. Yes please.
On this day I used two lenses.
The Viltrox 50mm f/2 to document proceedings with candid pics.
On lunch break I got a picture I like also.
I also deployed the 85mm f/2 EVO for headshots.
I then used the 20mm f/2.8 Air on the drive home.
Wrap up.
Fantastic lenses. Excellent value.
This put a lens back on my radar that I previously wrote about.
