So… The New Viltrox 35mm & 55mm f/1.8 EVO Lenses. Nice. But For Now… I’m Good.

Do I want them? Yes.
Why? I am glad I imagined that you asked.
I am enamored with the first Viltrox EVO release. The no excuses, far better than it has any business being Viltrox AF 85mm f/2 EVO.
It is as close to a perfect lens as I have ever experienced.
- Practically speaking nearly perfect optically as far as I can tell.
- But not so clinical as not to be interesting.
- Very well built.
- Lens luxuries like a declick switch, AF/MF switch, and an aperture dial.
- All for an exceptional price.
Used it very recently at a local live music event.
And it has performed perfectly every time I have used it.
I am not alone in my admiration for this lens. My friend Hamish (of 35mmc)…
…is not only a fan of the Nikon-flavored 85mm EVO…

…he also has and is very happy with the new 35mm and 55mm lenses.

So… why am I not getting them?
- I do not have a money tree.
- As a result of this lack, I must be able to make at least a faint case for a purchase and…
- I am already covered where both focal lengths are concerned.
- 55mm.
- I am happy with the excellent little Viltrox 50mm f/2 Air lens.
- 35mm.
- A bit of a bus in comparison, but the SIGMA 28-45mm f/1.8 Art has me covered.
- 55mm.
Seriously. That Viltrox Air 50mm f/2 is awesome.
Making such an excellent, small, and light lens that is very affordable is no way to sell me a more expensive lens.
All that being said, I may also get them one day.
Time will tell.
I am very happy that they made them.
Happy capturing.
