The motivation.
The usual. Photography as a distraction. Much needed nowadays.
The setting.
A local live music and art venue, The Fruit.
Not my first time there. Stopped through with a camera club a few years ago.
How did I find out about the event?
Thee Cesar.
Friend and all-around great guy.
The rig.
A recent acquisition. A $33 far better than it has any business being Pentax MZ-5.
The lens.
An old favorite of mine.
The film.
Two this night. LOMOchrome Classicolor 200 and Fujifilm 400, developed with Cinestill CS41.
The event.
Interesting story. I’ll try to keep it brief. A young local artist (Choco) was set to perform at a local strip mall named… seriously… Cum Park Plaza.
Yeah.
When my wife and I moved here from NYC we stumbled upon this same mall and stared at the sign for a bit. I carefully asked a local about the mall, and they said, “Oh. Coom Plaza?”
Right.
I think it is a family name or something, but we also stumbled across a big sign outside of a fruit/vegetable stand that declared, “Giant German Johnson’s are here.” Again, we stared at the sign wondering if there were some repressed people around here. Found out later that it is a type of tomato or something. Sure it is.
Anyhoo. Back to present time.
The young man named his album after the mall and planned to perform a free concert there. Someone tagged the police on the social media post, and he was banned from performing there. The Fruit found out about this and offered their space for the concert.
Cesar had been following the story and invited me to the show.

Thoughts.
About the lens.
It is official. For me, prime lenses are now optional. With modern cameras handling high ISOs so well, any aperture advantage is easily offset by variable focal lengths at the twist of a wrist.
