Analog Therapy & Live Music: Pentax SF10 – REFLX LAB 800T.
Subtitle: Analog photography can be relatively affordable.
The motivation.
The usual. Photography as a distraction. Much needed nowadays.
The setting.
A local live music and art venue.
The rig.
A gifted, free to me Pentax SF10…
…paired with the cracked, dirt-cheap, but quite excellent Pentax SMC F 50mm f/1.7 (AF).
The film.
Developed at home with Cinestill CS41.
The photos.
Thoughts.
The affordable bit I mentioned in the subtitle.
While I received this camera courtesy of the kindness of my local camera shop (Chris knew I was a bit of a Pentax nut, so he gifted it to me), a Pentax SF10 can be had for relative peanuts. Same for the lens. I bought it with a crack in the focal distance window that does not impact the lens’ performance at all for next to nothing, and it has never let me down.
Even back when I had digital Pentax cameras.
Why do I mention this?
I am glad I imagined that you asked.
I recently ran the same film through a much more expensive new film camera at the same venue.
So… not as “nice” or as desirable of a camera… but with a faster lens for much less spend the SF10 did more than just fine.
Good to know that there are reasonably priced analog cameras out there.
Nice. Welp…
Happy capturing.
