Scenes Seen & Live Music: Sony A7C II + A Bag Of Viltrox Primes.
Subtitle: And the Viltrox EVO 85mm f/2 also.
The motivation.
The usual. Photography as a distraction. Much needed nowadays.
The setting.
A local live music and art venue. A new one to me. The O’Henry Hotel.
Learned about it from vocalist Nina Johnson, and I went to support some local artists.
The rig.
One of my favorite cameras ever.
This time out, instead of the bag of primes zoom I used last time…
…I brought a literal bag of primes. Four Viltrox primes to be specific. Only ended up using three. Sorry, nice little 14mm f/4.
Here are the pics by lens.
On the way.
The nifty fifty for Sony full frame has finally arrived.
At the event.
One of the best portrait lenses I have ever owned or used.
One of my favorite things about this lens is how sharp it is. Pair it with a respectful amount of megapixels, and cropping is readily available. This was handy because this was a rather stuffy setting; the seating near the artists was packed, and dragging out a sizable zoom would have caused some discomfort. So instead I used the 85mm, knowing I could crop later.
Exhibit A.
This was the full scene.
Another tighter crop.
Was asked by the hotel communications person to take some photos of Nina.
The last pic on the way home was taken with the third Viltrox lens used that day.
Thoughts.
In addition to Dr. Roberto coming to support the artists, it was also good to see my new adopted cousin, Lynn Woods.
A great time.
Great folks.
Great music.
Nice.
Happy capturing.
