Analog Therapy: Rollei 35AF – Kodak Gold 200… Out Of Wedding Post Edit Jail.

For the right clients, I love doing wedding shoots.

But I was coerced to do my first wedding by my friend Ed.

I had no intention of ever doing a wedding. Too many horror stories. But to my surprise, I enjoyed it.

Made me realize it has to do with the people, not the job itself.

Pleasant people = Good time.

Not so nice people = Nightmare fuel.

And after a few under my belt now I have successfully only worked with pleasant people.

Dodged a bullet on a few I believe. But I did not even have to say no. Just quote a reasonable rate and they vamoosed all by themselves. Nice.

I brought a film camera along with me to a wedding session this last weekend.

Even snapped a few pics with it. But I put it away and those pics will never see the light of day. Why? I am glad I imagined you asked.

Fine pics and all. Cute. Just not up to the task for the day compared to the other tools used.

So I put it away and used up the rest of the roll elsewhere. Specifically my Monday night chorus rehearsal run. A rare break from wedding post editing because I went ham at the wedding. Finally finished and delivered the last of the images. With that done I can get on with things like this blog again.

The camera.

I also wrote a review of it on B&H. Some do not hold the same opinion about this camera. Petapixel listed it as the worst camera of the year in their end of year wrap up video. And a recent 35mmc post did not put it in the best light either. I added a reference to the latter in my review for some balance.

I also put up a 5 frames 35mmc post. I have created the first Rollei 35AF camera entry on Lomography.com, a Flickr group, and as always a Flickr album. The Camera wiki website even used my image for its Rollei 35AF page.

Well, I took the Rollei 35AF along with me yesterday. Has my opinion of it changed?

Nope.

Still awesome as far as I am concerned.

The film used was Kodak Gold 200, processed with Cinestill CS41, and scanned with my trusty old Epson V600

Nothing of note. Killing a roll of film. Here are a few of my favorite images from the roll.

That is about it for now.

Once I recover from the post wedding haze I will post some images and thoughts from the day as well

Happy capturing.
