As stated in an earlier post, this lens seems to be a triple threat. Capable of working with a SIGMA digital camera, adapted to Sony FE,…
…and also a SIGMA film camera.
It did so well in that post that I tried it again with film recently. That went so well I decided to shoot another roll of film with it alone. The film of choice was a recent favorite, CatLABS X Film 320 B&W. A heck of a name.
As a result of my experimentation documented previously with this film, instead of the recommended speed and developer, ISO 200 and 510 Pyro, I used ISO 100 and Cinestill df96. And once again I was pleased with the results.
This camera is very consistent and every frame came out. It even offered up a Contax like 37 frames this time. Here are all 37 captures. Nothing Erth shattering. Here are the pics that were taken while swinging through two of my usual haunts. Sarah P. Duke Gardens and downtown Durham. All at 12mm, because why not? That is the main party piece of this lens for me.
This camera and these SIGMA lenses of varying vintage raise the same thought in me.
Why spend more when such reasonably priced solutions produce such fantastic results?
Let’s compare a far more expensive pairing.
A great set up capable of great results.
Great. But if I am honest the images created are no better. And you get the added bonus of a wider field of view, the same aperture at 12mm, and AF.
But let me be clear. I would discourage no one from choosing the Leica CL and Voigtlander pairing. A great set up that was great fun… but this SIGMA pairing is more up my alley.
Happy capturing.
