In the past I have been pretty loyal to one particular 7Artisans M mount lens. Adapted to mirrorless…
…and natively with M mount cameras for years as well.
This then carried over to digital M.
To say I was pleased with this setup would be an understatement. I have already written many posts about the Leica M Type 240 and most photos taken were with that 50mm f/1.1.
But after I recently used another lens…
…I have started rethinking my main lens choice. Technically it is a better lens.
- Sharper.
- Usably sharp wide open with no need to bring up IQ character as a defense.
- No flaring I can find.
- Great colors when combined with the M 240.
- Better constructed.
- Has a built-in lens hood.
The only thing the 50mm wins out on is a slightly faster aperture. Commendable, but the 35mm makes a strong case for itself since it can be used wide open for sharp images without flare. Now I have started using it more for digital also.
And like the 50mm before it, I am impressed. Not better necessarily. Different. A sober lens I would compare to any lens of this spec where the 50mm is more of a lens for fun. Here are some recent images.
Well done 7Artisans.
