Scenes Seen – Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 edit: Brooklyn One Day… Dynacon Event Center Show In Greensboro The Next.
Life can be wild every once in a while.
Woke up Friday with no plans to leave my house that day, if I am honest. Add an FB group flyer post by Michael Young and a quick call with my wife, then fast-forward to midnight, and my son and I were arriving in Brooklyn.

…and then we drove home Saturday.
Recap.
- 15 hours in Brooklyn, from arrival to departure, all in.
- Almost 18 hours of seat time driving up and back.
- My son was either resting or not thrilled about the insane traffic conditions that I am quite used to.
If I had any sense, I would “Go somewhere and it down.” (As my dearly departed Father would say.) all day Sunday. Seems reasonable.
Then I get a text from Nina Johnson…
…inviting me out to a performance that night at a local venue.
Inventoried my faculties, and I felt fine. Shockingly so, actually. Sure.
Was being held at a local venue I had not heard of before. Was introduced to the owner by Nina’s husband, Brandon, soon after arriving, and he proudly listed some of the high-profile artists who have performed there. Cool.
The rig.
A lens that I call the precious.
So good that I was left unmoved when Sony released their slightly faster, slightly less focal length range, having 50-150mm f/2.
Is the Sony better? Maybe… Perhaps even likely.
2,200 dollars better? I seriously doubt it.
Even if it were, would that matter? Nope.
- Logically, I prefer having access to 35mm at the wide end than f/2 at the long end.
- Emotionally, I am far too attached to the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 to let it go.
A wonderful lens fit for any occasion. If I were a reasonable man, it would be the only lens I used… But I am not a reasonable man, so I prefer a manual focus, perfectly imperfect vintage f/1.2 lens on my own time…
…but if I need the pic, like a wedding…
…or other actual photo session for a customer,…
…this is the lens for me.
The pics.
Happy capturing.
