Scenes Seen/Bastille Day Event Rehearsal Night: Sony A7C II + Viltrox AF Glass.
Subtitle: These Viltrox lenses are better than they have any business being.
The motivation.
The usual. Photography as a distraction. Much needed nowadays.
The setting.
Rehearsal for an upcoming event this weekend.

The rig.
One of my favorite cameras ever.
All gussied up with a new outfit.
And a couple of my favorite lenses.
The photos.
On the way.
Arrived.
Headed home.
Thoughts.
About the lenses?
I want to buy the new Viltrox 55mm f/1.8 EVO lens. But the 50mm f/2 trips me up.
I have not a single complaint about the 50mm f/2 Air at all.
What does the 55mm give?
- Weather sealing?
- Great, but I do not need it for my purposes.
- An aperture ring?
- Nice, but my primes tend to stay wide open.
- f/1.8 aperture?
- f/2 is fine. In isolation I would not know the difference.
- APO lens design.
- Great, but I cannot find a single fault with the 50mm’s colors or IQ.
So. Two lenses of a very similar spec. So for now I am good. May still pick it up later. Onward.
The EVO 85mm f/2 is the perfect compact portrait length solution.
Great people.
Great camera and lens made better by some recent aesthetic and functional embellishments mentioned in the post link above.
A great distraction from the madness.
Nice.
Happy capturing.
