Scenes Seen/Revisting The OG Swirly Bokeh Lens: GFX + Helios 44-2 58mm f/2.
Recently, I was checking out a new swirly bokeh lens.

In addition to swirly bokeh, it also has:
“Warm veiling glare and gentle lens flares for a dreamy, vintage-inspired atmosphere”
That all sounds familiar. Like a lens I already have, in fact.
I have used it natively with the Zenit E.
Have adapted it to mirrorless.
Then I wondered how it wou;ld perform adapted to medium format. My theory?
That it may cover the larger sensor better than other 35mm lenses.
So I ordered an M42 to GFX adapter. Here are the results.
The rig.
The setting.
Took the rig wherever I went.
And when used within the realm of realistic expectations, it never disappoints. More on this will be outlined below.
The pics.
Father’s Day outing with my family.
Thoughts.
This was a most pleasant surprise.
I was already happy with how this lens performed when adapted to full frame cameras. It is even better on medium format.
Great colors.
Has that pleasing imperfect “character” so many new lenses try to emulate.
It is sharp wide open.
And last but not least it delivers on the swirly bokeh.
So good it stayed on my lens after this initial test.
Nice.
Happy capturing.
