Scenes Seen/Rehearsal Night: Sony A7C II + Viltrox 50mm f/2 Air.

Subtitle: The Sony FE nifty fifty I have been waiting for.

The motivation.

The usual. Photography as a distraction. Much needed nowadays.

The setting.

Milling about. Going about life. Weekly chorus rehearsal.

The rig.

One of my favorite cameras ever.

All gussied up with a new outfit.

And a favorite lens.

The photos.

Thoughts.

About the lens?

I want to buy the new Viltrox 55mm f/2 EVO lens. But this lens trips me up.

I have not a single complaint about the 50mm f/2 Air at all.

What does the 55mm give?

  • Weather sealing?
    • Great, but I do not need it for my purposes.
  • An aperture ring?
    • Nice, but my primes tend to stay wide open.
  • f/1.8 aperture?
    • f/2 is fine. In isolation I would not know the difference.
  • APO lens design.
    • Great, but I cannot find a single fault with the 50mm’s colors or IQ.

So. Two lenses of a very similar spec. So for now I am good. May still pick it up later. Onward.

Great people.

Great camera and lens made better by some recent aesthetic and functional embellishments mentioned in the post link above.

A great distraction from the madness.

Nice.

Happy capturing.
