Life has been lifing all over the place lately. If I am not careful, I will sit and marinate in it.
Not good.
I have got to get out.
The occasion.
Bought a few films to try recently.
Decided to get the heck out of the house to try another.
The film.
Developed at home with Cinestill CS41, as usual.
The camera.
As stated in the blog title the Contax 137 MA Quartz…
…is my personal favorite SLR. A claim I do not make lightly since there are other SLRs I rather like. Had quite a few of them. But when things got out of hand and it came time to thin the SLR herd this is a camera that was going nowhere. Never once thought of selling it.
The lens.
The 50mm f/1.7, also mentioned in the last link. A favorite lens of mine.
The location.
A familiar spot. Downtown Durham.
The pics. All 37 frames. (You have got to love an efficient camera.)
On the way.
Arrival.
Thoughts.
I like it…
- Reasonably sharp.
- Good colors.
- Forgiving.
- Inexpensive.
…but you know what?
I think I like the last film I tried that REFLX sells on their website better.
Why?
I am glad I imagined you asked.
- A bit sharper. A bit.
- I prefer the colors. A bit.
- A bit more forgiving. A bit.
- Sidebar bullet: Some or all of that above may have to do with trying 120 film with Lucky compared to 35mm here. Time will tell because I already ordered more Lucky film in both strengths so I can test out Lucky 35mm to confirm.
- Less expensive. About $3 less a roll less of os the writing of this past.
But…
I still like 320D and will be purchasing it again.
Welp. That is about it.
Another successful analog therapy/film test session. A fine distraction from the madness.
