Scenes Seen: NYC, A Homegoing Service, An X100VI, & A Phone. Part 2. To The Service & Right After.
Subtitle: Quite the weekend.
Life has thrown quite a bit at me lately. All will be fine in the end. However, it has been a challenging week. One of those things was a funeral for my Aunt in Harlem.

Went to pay my respects. Went to support my cousin at this time. Pushed past my hesitancy to attend funerals since my Father passed away. So a bit taxing emotionally. So, as usual, photography came to my rescue.
Instead of separating pics from the trip into different posts, I will include them all in this one.
As I got a gander at how many pics I took, I decided to break these posts up instead.
Another post will be dedicated to the preferred tool used. I spent more time deciding what camera gear to bring than I spent packing clothes. But in the end, I could have brought just one.
With one exception. But before I get to the other camera…
I brought a rather serious camera with me. As in a big sensor having, interchangeable lens camera, with lenses, and a couple of flashes. A trigger also. But they never left the bag… Other than to show to some fellow photographers at lunch. That other camera? As mentioned in the title, my phone.
Since then, I have “upgraded” (Near any modern phone would do.) to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Mega Thruster GTR 3000… Some of that is made up.
I had my “real” cameras in my backpack. The same bag I used during my past trip to NYC a few years ago.
Seemed a good idea. But stopping to remove gear from my camera bag…
…was not practical.
So… phone it is.
Taken before entering the funeral.
Then, after the funeral, the snow had picked up a bit. I then took a few more phone pics on the way to pick up my cousin and her daughter to give them a ride to the family meal after the service.
Back to the X100VI on the way to the restaurant.
Having dropped off my cousin at the restaurant,…
…I found a parking spot not too far away. I put the X100VI back in the bag and took a few more photos with my phone on my way to the restaurant.
After this, I put my phone and “real” camera gear away and took the X100VI back out for the rest of the day.
That is a wrap for this post. Will share the pics from the rest of the day in my next post.
Happy capturing.
