Was out testing a film I never tried before yesterday. I typically avoid folks on these walks. For a multitude of reasons. For one, recently, my trust in fellow man being shaken more than usual by current events. But yesterday these young ladies walked up and asked me to take their picture, and were happy when I said yes. And in that brief interaction, a portion of my optimism was restored.
And here is the resulting picture.
I must thank these young ladies. Went in to the evening a bit downcast, but this moment put a smile on my face, and for that I thank them.
The camera.
As stated in the blog title the Contax 137 MA Quartz…
…is my personal favorite SLR. A claim I do not make lightly since there are other SLRs I rather like. Had quite a few of them. But when things got out of hand and it came time to thin the SLR herd this is a camera that was going nowhere. Never once thought of selling it.
The lens.
The 50mm f/1.7, also mentioned in the last link. A favorite lens of mine.
The film.
On my recent trip to my local camera shop, Katherine…
…recommended I try Ilford Ilfocolor film. So I did.
The occasion.
A baby shower for a first cousin, scenes seen, and a walk around a local town.
Developed at home with Cinestill CS41, as usual.

Thoughts.
A nice film.
The consensus at my local camera shop is that it is like Lomography Metropolis but a tad warmer.
And I would say that is an accurate assessment.
I have a second roll and look forward to using it. But for the price as of this writing, I would stick to something a little more affordable.
