Analog Therapy: Fujifilm GA645 Professional – Kodak Portra 800.
Camera.
The ridiculously consistent and great performing Fujifilm GA645.
Blasts through 120 film so fast it is a good thing that I develop my own film or this thing would savage my wallet.
Film.
Kodak Portra 800. The first time using 800. I had used 160…
…and 400.
So I wanted to give 800 a try.
Occasion.
Firstly, I was headed to celebrate my daughter’s birthday.
Secondly, I still had baggage from my recent Harmoan Phoenix 200 II tests. The results were dark and had color shift issues. I eliminated the camera because both cameras used have very accurate metering. In the back of my mind, I did wonder if the chemistry had gone south. They were my 13th and 14th rolls developed with this chemistry, and it was not the freshest. Could that have been an issue? There was only one way to test this. Shoot a solid film with one of the same cameras and develop it. Developed with Cinestill CS41. Here are the pics.
Thoughts.
First off, the issue was not the developer.
I do not get it.
I finally went and looked at other reviews of Harman Phoenix 200 II, and the images seemed more solid than mine. Perhaps it is because they stayed in bright light, maybe? Perhaps the scanner played better with the film? Perhaps a different batch? I do not know. But it was not the developer.
Anyhoo.
That was fun.
Another successful analog therapy session.
Happy capturing.
