I have discussed the camera over a few posts.
The lens: 7Artisans 75mm f/1.25
Ok. Next part of my day. Flu and COVID shots with the Mrs.. Don’t try and tell me we are not living the high life. Anyhoo. This happened.
Had an odd exchange with the guy that gave me the shots. He saw my camera and asked what type of photography I do. I pretty much said “yes”. He suggested some local events. I thanked him and asked if he was a photographer and he said he was until he had two kids and now he does not have time…
I think I was accidentally obnoxious because I said I had three kids and just brought a camera with. He pretty much stopped talking to me at that point.
Pro tip:
In hind sight it is probably not a great idea to cheese off a guy who is about to stab you in the arm twice.
Wrap up.
Well that was fun.
I need to take this lens out for a walk more often.
I not only like this lens because of the images I capture with it, but also because this lens sits in a weird spot in the lens market to me. It is clearly meant as a knock off of a Leica lens with the same focal length and aperture. That would be hard for 7Artisans to deny with that 75 emblazoned across it with the same font and paint. But the gap between the price of that Leica lens and the 7Artisans lens is insane. 32.5x the price in fact. Buy it used like I did and you save even more.
Is the Leica lens better?
Yes. Without a doubt. But… Absolutely no one is cross shopping these lenses.
Will I ever know how much better?
No. $14K? Yeah, I will likely never see one in the flesh.
Is this lens good enough for me?
Yes. Without a doubt.
Happy capturing.
