Analog Therapy: Fujifilm GA645 – Lomography 100… And A Social Media Ramble.

First the ramble.

If I had to summarize my Father’s approach to navigating this world one attempt would be:

Life is what you make of it.

More broadly what one focuses on will have a massive impact on the quality of one’s life.

Social media pivot.

For starters I used to find it funny when folks complained about social media… on social media. Like when ads started on different platforms. So you are on the book of face complaining about ads on the book of face? Number one…

You could demand your money back. Oh, right it is free. So you are complaining about ads…

How do you expect them to pay for servers, staff, marketing, so on and so forth? It is not a public service. For better or worse all of them are for profit interests. Why were they free in the first place? A theory:

This teetotaler has heard tell that those who peddle illicit substances will occasionally give them away for free initially. Not as a gift. They count on the addictive attributes to kick in and when they are good and hooked they introduce the price to be paid. Welp… Enjoy the ads.

Social Media and more broadly online interactions. I wrote a post for another blog. In the comments someone piped up with a statement that was basically wrong with a side of snark. And even if they were right… it was something that they could have kept to themselves. In all honesty, this is one of the reasons why I do not have the comments activated in this space. There are many. But I have no interest in fielding “but rather” comments. Did it bother me? Not really. I responded with a “Your mileage may vary.” and kept it moving. Instead I focused on more positive interactions. For one another comment on that same post was quite kind. I could focus on that. And that same day I also had a photojournalist that I hold in high regard comment on one of my own blog posts via the book of face. Nice. And there are so many other things I can concentrate on instead.

What is the relationship to this post? I am glad I imagined you asked.

The post that the photojournalist commented on included B&W images that I liked. He noted the tones. And I agreed.

FPP B&W Wolfman 100

Those tones have been on my mind since. And I wanted to go back and capture those tones in color. Well, if it is tones I am after medium format would be great. And I have the perfect camera for the task.

I chose Lomography 100 for its great colors and clarity, developed with Cinestill CS41.

I revisited the places from the last B&W film test post and here are the photos.

While acknowledging and addressing the negative my focus remains set on the positive. Another successful analog therapy session.

Happy capturing.
