Here is a second digital cleanse roll. I prefer film. As documented in recent posts I recently had work that called for digital gear. Digital does not quite cut it for me. If I had to guess it has to do with the whole not sure what you have, enjoy the moment, and meditative qualities of developing and scanning the film… If I had to guess. So a return to film was in order.
Camera choice? Easy. A rock solid recent analog addition.
The film was an easy choice also. Kodak Gold 200.
Years ago I wrote a post stating that Lomography 400 was my favorite film. I have recently realized that this has changed. It has always been a film that I liked. Great colors, sharp, reasonably priced, and plays well with Cinestill CS41. But since that post, Kodak added 120 film to the mix. That moved the needle considerably. I had purchased a box recently and was gifted a box for letting a film only photographer friend use my EOS 5D kit for a photo shoot. So there will be a lot of Kodak Gold pics seen up in here for a while. Cool. Welp… Here are the surviving frames from a recent roll.
Had been wondering on the last roll why the flash did not fire even though I had popped it up. In “P” mode. Thought that would be more likely to fire the flash. Wrong. Reading the manual finally (Imagine that.) and found out that popping up the flash was not enough. Especially in P mode. The camera may decide there is enough light not to need flash. Seems counterintuitive to me but to force the flash when popped you need to use “AE” mode. And I much prefer the AE forced flash pic above over the P mode pic below where the flash did not fire.
Killing the roll.
Another successful analog therapy session.
Happy capturing.
