And now for a completely different Konica.
This is contrasted with the decidedly more fancy pants M mount Konica Hexar RF used in the last Harman Phoenix 200 post.
Harman Phoenix 200 is an interesting film. As such, I find myself on a minor mission to try it out with different cameras. Started with an SLR before the rangefinder mentioned and now I wanted to run it through a fully automatic point and shoot. But this is no common point and shoot to me. I rather like it. A lot.
So much so I wrote a post comparing it to the Instatwitface darling Contax T2. Not only that I have never once considered selling on the Konica and I have since let the Contax go. Am I saying that the Konica C35 AF2 is “better” than a Contax T2? No. One can definitely make a case for the T2. But for me, the Konica would do just fine.
Back to the film.
The short version is:
- This is a new from scratch film rather than a possibly modified repackaged existing film.
- I really like the sample photos.
Went to kill a roll of film. And this is a camera well suited to the task. You have no control over anything other than framing, putting whatever you want exposed and in focus in the middle, and then press the shutter. This is not always my cup of tea. But when I just want to point and shoot this is a perfect tool for it. Once again developed with Cinestill CS41 and scanned the film. Nothing Earth shattering. Photos taken just knocking about. Here are the results.
Last thoughts.
I like this film. Seems the film had less of a red cast this time around. Since all other things were equal it would seem the camera made the difference. Still like it. After viewing the negatives I can already tell that this film can now be added to my list of favorites. How could I not? This film has inspired to get out and about and use film.
Well done Harman.
Happy capturing.
