Had a new to me SLR I wanted to get a few test rolls through.
Roll 1
I paired with a favorite zoom.
A great film (Kodak Gold 200), camera, and lens so all should go well. For reasons that stumped me at first the roll developed blank. My thoughts on possible culprits:
- Camera?
- No. I just finished a roll of B&W film without issue.
- Lens?
- Not likely. Worked just fine with the Canon EOS 5D.
- Daylight tank transition issue?
- Doubt it. Have not ever had an issue with this before.
- Chemistry?
- Should have been fine. Has some weeks on it but I have used older chemistry before without issue and I had not developed anywhere near as many rolls as I have in the past.
- Film?
- Maybe? I have another roll that I purchased at the same time. Will give it a go.
Roll 2
Kodak Gold 200 once again. Same camera and lens, but I would use other lenses this time just in case.
Even though I mixed up the lenses a bit to make sure the 28-75mm was not at fault the chemistry seemed like the most likely culprit so I tossed the older chemistry and mixed a new batch of Cinestill CS41.
Result?
Went just fine. Here are the images I liked most.
Yep. I believe it was the chemistry.
And a fine bit of analog therapy.
Happy capturing.
