Two times previously I posted about returning to my family’s homestead in rural NC. As stated in the titles of these posts these were somber events. The passing of a beloved family member. But this trip was different. My Mother and her first cousins called this gathering together so the family could gather to celebrate our family. A fantastic idea.
It was so good to see this house that was the site of so many fond childhood memories. Many times during my childhood family descendants assembled there to celebrate family. It was so good to do this again. I hope this becomes yet another family tradition.
Instead of an an odd duck favorite as a needed distraction with those prior posts, this time I went a different way. Brought a few choices, film and digital, actually. What I ended up actually using was two digital solutions. The cameras that were used take a backseat this time around so I will not spend any time calling them out. Instead, I will focus on the images produced. More specifically captures of family joy. This put me in a place that reminded me of how I was introduced to photography in the first place. My Father capturing images of family.
Here they are along with some photos of the surrounding town.
