It is early I know, but I already have partisan fatigue and there is so much further to go (Registered independent from day one of eligibility to vote, for the record, primarily because of my disdain for the choices at that time (Dukakis vs. Bush 1.0. Yep, I’m old.), the tactics at play (And I had seen nothing yet.), and the gullibility of the general populous. Nothing has changed and it has gone further downhill since.

Note: My brilliant attorney wife nerds out on this stuff, exhibit A her Political Science undergrad degree, so this is like her every 4 year superbowl with a seemingly never ending pregame show. But your humble engineer, ever on a quest for reason, will be left ranting nonsensically at the television something about everyone missing the larger point or something before it is all over.

Let’s be real. Most everyone knows who they will vote for and it will likely be based on their equidae or pachyderm proclivities. Let us not pretend that we are endeavoring to engage in a brilliantly nuanced exchange of ideas that will foster a new era of civil collaboration. People go in knowing what ideals they will be dragging through to the other side of the discussion. Counting linguistic blows landed will be the only goal and neither side will be able to agree on even that. Everyone has created their own reality bubbles and they only leave their safe havens to fight.

The only real variable I see is how many will participate and that is fodder for a whole other ramble.

Little will change from now until election day. Regardless of affiliation the two major parties vary so wildly on… well everything… I doubt there is any serious chance of a conversion taking place for either.

Gullibility rearing it’s ugly head. Many seem to be missing the point. This is a primary color issue. Red and blue is not the concern of those in power, but rather who is spending the green. If the red and blue keep squabbling over ideological crumbs the green has won the whole cake long before the race has even begun.

The ‘news’ networks, talking heads, show hosts do not care. Well let’s say they do care and have a conscience on an individual level, but last I checked profits drive the media bus not conscience. They are selling our eyes for dollars to the advertisers. The more divisive the better the bottom line.

Who is more wrong? A valid point but those in power, to be clear the lobbyist backers not the politicians, do not care one bit as long as the constituency is not even marginally engaged in cutting off their government backed profit centers.
