So… The Sony A7V. They Messed Up. I Am Fine w/ What They Already Make.
Greater specs no longer move me.

If new specs float your boat, go for yours.
Me?
I do not need a faster camera.
I have no use for 30fps. Great that it is available for those who do. 10fps is more than sufficient for me.
I do not need better AF.
Might sound crazy, but in all honesty, I do not have a single complaint about Sony AF all the way back to the Sony A7III.
And if I was ok with a tiny battery, I could make do with an A7II.
Ok. So speed and AF are not going to do it. But I do like that new fangled does all the things tilty flippy spinny screen.

One minor issue though. <In dramatic voiceover tone.> There is another.
The Sony A7RV already has this feature. Now it might not have 30fps and other updated features, but is also has…
61MP.
More than a no black out sensor or focus points that cover the entire sensor, I would prefer the added 28MP.
And as of the writing of this post, brand new this camera is only $400 more.

And if you are ok with buying used, which I am, the A7RV is the same price.

And that is what I would do.
Now what if I did not need the spinny tilty flippy screen. In that case I would prefer the A7C II.
Again, not as fast. But more than good enough for my purposes, and I could save a few hundred dollars new…

…and even more used…

…for a rangefinderish body I prefer.
I will stop myself here.
Thoughts.
The A7V is a fine camera. A wonderful stacked sensor, no EVF blackout, 30fps having marvel.
But I would prefer higher MP for the same spend or a rangefinderish form factor for less.
As I said at the top.
Sony messed up. I am fine with what they already make.
Good times.
Happy capturing.
