Post Neewer Lighting Pivot Update: Neewer Z Flashes, Two Q4.Strobes, & A Family Portrait Session.

Subtitle: Was reminded that with the proper lighting, nearly any camera will do.

I really like Godox lighting. I still have some Godox flashes. Even kept a trigger around. Allows me to piggyback off of others if they let me, like I could have done at a recent model photography and editing class.

But for my main lights, I switched to Neewer. Similar to Godox, I have two modes for a family portrait session. But now I have more power for less spend, and a preferred form factor.

Mode 1. Run and gun.

On camera flash with bounce card.

I did not feel like sorting out placement for the strobes on the porch. Attached a Z2 to the camera and let it rip.

Used the same rig for a second location, and with their son in constant motion, it was definitely the way to go.

Mode 2.

Two strobes with two softboxes. The same setup I used for a recent headshot session.

But this time outside. I placed them in shadow since it was midday and let it rip.

Thoughts.

What you may have noticed is what I did not mention.

No mention of camera or lens.

There is a good reason for this.

With proper lighting, I could have used nearly any digital camera.

And I am pleased with this setup. I have no regrets about switching to a new lighting system.

Well done, Neewer.

Happy capturing.
