Scenes Seen: Two FUJIFILM Cameras.
Subtitle: I chose the right GFX for me.
No long winded preampble. Like most cameras on the market in recent years, they are very capable image-capturing devices.
First, the little brother.
Nothing earth-shattering. Here are the images.
On to big Bertha.
Used with the GF 50mm f/3.5.
Here are the pics.
Starting with a stop by my local camera shop to buy some B&W film developer.
Thoughts.
Regarding the last set of pics where I used the GFX100S with the GF 50mm f/3.5, I put to rest a question posed in an earlier post…
…completely to rest.
I assumed as much, but I do prefer the GFX100S over the gor-jus GFX100RF.
Why?
I am glad I imagined you asked.
Image capturing twins.
- They have the same sensor.
- When the GFX100S is kitted with the 50mm f/3.5, it is a close match for the RF’s 40mm f/4.
Operationally.
- Same menu system.
And while the RF has a definite aesthetic advantage, I cannot overlook the practical benefits of opting for a used GFX100S and GF 50mm f/3.5.
- The price.
- I cannot ignore this.

- Preferred lens spec.
- While close, I do prefer a faster lens and slightly longer focal length.
- IBIS.
- Self-explanatory, especially at a lower price.
- Changing lenses.
- This is what started my pivot. After putting in an order for a GFX100RF at my local camera shop, as mentioned in this post, I mentioned this to Hamish, and he made a solid point.
- “I dunno man, I’m not convinced for myself… I think if I was going to go MF digital, I’d want to be able to mount random lenses to it.”
- I took a step back, and that is when I settled on the first-gen GFX100S.
- This is what started my pivot. After putting in an order for a GFX100RF at my local camera shop, as mentioned in this post, I mentioned this to Hamish, and he made a solid point.
Not much more to say. More therapeutic image gathering.
Happy capturing.
