Still The Precious: A Community Event, A Porsche Event, & The Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD.

I have had the great fortune of using, testing, and writing about many amazing cameras over the years.

But as I stated some time ago,…

RNF: Not here to start anything… but it is mostly about the lens isn’t it?

…when most cameras have reached and many have surpassed my use case specs, it becomes about the lens.

For a while, I had dubbed a very fast and capable 50mm as “the precious”.

But on the same day I wrote that post about another lens stole its thunder…

…and never gave it back.

I could ramble on about this or that reason, but in summary, it comes down to two things.

1. It is the lens to bring when I do not know what lens to bring.
2. It never disappoints.

Ok. One more thing.

When used alongside prime lenses, I prattle on about, I struggle to distinguish between the photos taken with one or the other.

Exhibit A:

When reviewing these wedding reception images, I was convinced that the image above, in cave lighting, was taken with the Sony 50mm f/1.2 G Master. But nope. Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 thank you very much.

As a result, I have sold the Sony G Master, and the Tamron is not going anywhere. Sold on and functionally replaced in my line-up with a slightly wider, slightly slower, and MUCH less expensive SIGMA 35mm f/1.4.

Back to the task at hand.

So this day I had one event I knew about and another I had completely forgotten about.

Last week, I received a call to cover an annual community outreach program I had covered a couple of years ago.

Another Event, Another Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Post. The Practical Precious.

And while I was covering that, my cousin texted me…

…that he was at an air-cooled Porsche event that:

• I had stumbled across online, and geeked out about.
  • Car nut here.
• Told my cousin about.
• Bought a ticket a couple of months ago.
• Completely forgot about it.

So, I went straight from one event to the other.

And, as usual, the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 delivered at both.

The community outreach event where I volunteered my time.

On to the Porsche event.

Thoughts.

Welp.

Great lens.
