Analog Therapy: Rollei 35AF – Arista EDU DX 400 – & A Camera Comparison.
This is my second roll of Arista EDU DX 400. The first roll went very well.
This second roll was used by force. That is how I started the roll anyway. Found myself in a spot that I do not like. I had not taken any photos for a few days. That is not normal for me. As I wrote about in this post years ago…
Don’t feel right when I don’t shoot. Don’t shoot when I don’t feel right.
The only path out is to force myself to go out and shoot even if I do not feel like it. So, I did.
Then an event came up.
A car show is always a sure way to get me out of a funk. And get me out of the house.
The camera. A favorite of mine.
A few barbs have been thrown this camera’s way. Each is welcome to their opinion. I adore this camera. The only thing that troubled me a bit proved to be a teething issue. Film loading and rewinding were both initially hampered by insanely tight tolerances. Somewhere around 16 rolls, I got the hang of loading the film, and the tight build on the film back loosened up a bit. Somewhere around 20 rolls or so, the effort to rewind the film eased up, and now it works as designed. Where I initially had to hold my thumb on the rewind lever and rotate the camera around, I can now rewind film using the lever. On to the film.
$6.99.
A distraction for $6.99. Nice.
Developed with Cinestill df96.
Less than 36 exposures due to user error. 28 rolls in the battery died mid roll and I did not have a back up battery with me. User error. I went ahead and developed the roll for a comparison post.
Here are the pics. Thoughts after.
Thoughts.
Another successful analog therapy session.
The film?
Once again, I like it. You see it, right?
Reasonably sharp.
Nice contrast.
$6.99.
I will be using it again.
Happy capturing.
