Scenes Seen: GFX + Contax CY Zeiss Planar 50mm f/1.7.
Subtitle: Why stop at adapting M glass?
As stated in a recent post…
…after giving a lot of attention to modern cameras with modern luxuries like AF, I needed a rangefinder lens fix. Also mentioned in that post that after letting go of my rangefinder camera…
…the GFX stepped up as my new rig to put behind this wonderful lens. I was referring to a favorite lens of mine.
But there is another. I recently used it two rolls in with my recent slide film bender.
A rare ZEISS bargain. The Contax CY Zeiss Planar 50mm f/1.7.
I must give credit to Katherine at my local camera shop. While I had the idea to adapt CY lenses she gave me the push to order the adapter. Tried to order one new directly from K&F but that one is lost in the weeds so I ordered a seond used copy from KEH.
Fortunately, similar to the Voigtlander, it mostly covers the medium format image circle. There is a bit of a vignette, but I do not mind it at all.
Here are my first sample pics.
Thoughts.
Necessary?
Nope.
Would I recommend getting it for this purpose specifically?
Not necessarily. But one could do much worse.
Do I like the results?
Yep.
A fine lens, no matter what camera you put behind it.
Happy capturing.
