FUJIFILM GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR: I Will Not Get All GF Lenses.
I did not think I would be interested in a GF zoom lens with an f/5.6 aperture. In case I may be missing something, I tested one at my local camera shop. Here are the images followed by my thoughts.
Thoughts.
First the good.
- Seems plenty sharp.
- The added O.I.S. with the camera’s IBIS seem to make for a steady image even at low shutter speeds.
- AF seems quick, silent, and accurate.
- Flexible for a medium format lens at a full frame equivalent of 79-158mm.
- Reasonably priced for what it is and the system it is for.
The meh.
- The 79-158mm focal length range and f/4.424 aperture pale in comparison to full frame options like the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 lens.
- Relatively expensive new or used for such a humble spec.
- Makes sense for such a large sensor, but kind of big.
Bottom line.
A fine lens. If you were determined to only own a GF body, here is a great zoom option.
But it is not what I bought into the GF system for. I lost interest in this lens almost immediately. So I can mark myself safe from it.
Fast primes only, please, and thank you.
Happy capturing.
