Scenes Seen: GFX + Voigtländer 28mm f/2.0 Ultron.
Scenes seen on a food run with a favorite lens and camera.
FUJIFILM focus aids are appreciated…
…but not necessary here. Hyperfocal is the way. Set the aperture and infinity to f/5.6 and let it rip. There are some repeats. Here are some pics I liked.
Thoughts.
Great camera and lens. I also sought to replicate pics taken with another camera.
I continue to be surprised by the GFX100S. The bunch of megapixels and depth of field thing was expected. Colors were a surprise. Low Light performance was a pleasant surprise. And another is how it has effortlessly filled the role the Leica M Type 240 once held. A proper camera to sit behind rangefinder lenses.
Did I like saying I had a Leica M Type 240 rangefinder?
Yep.
Did I enjoy using it?
Again, yep.
Do I miss having it?
Not really. Any reservations I had about letting it go were done away with as soon as I used a rangefinder lens on the GFX. Add in the many perks on top of that.
- Access to a larger sensor.
- Access to more MP used with the whole sensor and a MP count matching the much more expensive M11 in full frame crop.
- Autofocus is on the table.
- Costs less.
Better?
No. It all comes down to personal preference. If you want a Leica rangefinder you want a Leica rangefinder. I get it.
Better for me?
Yes.
Happy capturing.
