Sledgehammer To Drive In A Thumbtack Files: GFX + FUJIFILM GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR + Scenes Seen.
This kit is overkill. Definitely overkill for everyday shots. This is not new to me. Like the time I brought an RZ67 to a bouncy house party on a monopod…
…and it was not even for my kid. Good times.
Making sense?… Bah. This is much more fun.
What got me here was less me paying more than I wanted to and more the price of things finally falling to a price point that did not give me agita. What started this was when a new GFX model release got me thinking seriously about the move.
In my opinion the new GFX100RF has a reasonable price considering what you are getting. You may scoff. But if you don’t believe me check it against a brand that rhymes with Micah. And if your aim is a brand new 100MP medium format camera and a lens it is the best deal in town by far. Backing up to Micah I am no stranger to the allure of the Q line…
… or the Leica M line.
In both cases, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them but eventually moved on. And I fault no one for their personal preference, but I am a bang for buck guy so more sensor real estate and more MP for less money is an easy one for me. GFX all day.
But ultimately it was another GFX that I once saw as unobtanium unexpectedly depreciating to within my strike zone that got my attention.
Add in a lens that when bought used combines for much less than the GFX100RF and includes IBIS we have what I would call a no-brainer.
This here post is about scenes seen with this camera and lens.
That concludes this post.
Thoughts.
<Deeply inhales.> Such exceptional image capturing power in such a relatively small package that asks so little of the user above any number of more pedestrian offering all at a price not at all out of line with the best of those pedestrian offerings and far below the most expensive of the medium format breed is quite amazing in my humble opinion.
Great fun and great results while I am at it. Well done FUJIFILM.
Happy capturing.
