Lens Follow Up/Wrap Up: SLR Magic 8mm f/4 Lens.
Subtitle: I am now glad I trolled the B&H @bhphoto website.
As I stated in my prior post with no provocation not long after wondering what the least expensive new MFT lenses on B&H this lens was on the way.
<Recap> Why? Easy.
- $99. (On sale it says, but I seriously doubt this lens ever sells at full price. Especially as MFT increasingly becomes a niche {read that less used} lens mount.)
- 8mm. (16mm full frame equivalent.)
- Rectilinear.
- Mildly steampunk looking.
Put it together:
A mildly steampunk looking 16mm full frame equivalent rectilinear lens for $99.
That pretty much did it. <End cut and paste from last post.>
Update. Two virtues I pointed out really paid dividends.
- Small.
- Light.
So much so that even though I had more pedigreed cameras (Read that more camera snob friendly.) on me this is the only ;ens and camera that I used today. The others never left the bag. The occasion?
After a mildly triggering mini road trip to pay my respects to a long time friend from NYC yesterday…
…I basically forced myself out of the house for a bit of image capturing therapy. Why? I am glad I imagined that you asked.
- It is fun.
- It has great IQ.
- It is easy to use.
All for $99. Nice.
I will stop myself here. Here are some sample photos from the day.
Thoughts.
Again. I like it.
One of my closing answers from the last post needs adjustment.
Will I use it often?
Not likely. Seems I will.
Happy capturing.
