An After Concert Fellowship & A Reminder That The Future Is In Good Hands: Also AF Can Be Quite Handy.

The recap.

Photo exhibit opening Friday.

Concert on Saturday.

And on last night a post concert chorus fellowship.

As I said in prior posts

And photos were taken.

Photo gear preamble.

Different tools were used for each day. For the opening and rehearsal, I went full on artsy fartsy on gear.

For the concert itself, compactness and competency counted over all else.

For the fellowship I leaned further into the modern gear thing I rambled about. I wanted the whole bright lens with a full frame sensor thing but teamed with current tech AF. Candid things would be happening so a swift point in that general direction and press the shutter solution was in order, especially with young folks in the fray. They have far too much energy to remain static long enough to focus accurately on manually. As mentioned in the last post I happened to have chosen Sony. But I am firmly team whatever floats your boat. Run what ya’ brung (Mispelling intentional.) if you will. Any brand would have done the job.

Enough of that.

AF ramble sorted on to the task at hand. The evening.

Here are the images. Thoughts will follow.

Thoughts.

Gear sum up.

Recently wrote a post prattling on about how a Leica had won my heart for every day photography. Had said my Sony gear had not seen a lot of use recently. Not so true anymore.

The other task at hand.

A Reminder That The Future Is In Good Hands.

You see those young folk up there? Great young men. I am also reminded of the young interns I have mentored on my day job.

I hear a lot of generational mud slinging on the interwebs. I do not know what they are on about. As I was lifting up how much these young men impress me last evening I mentioned that my generation had its struggles as well. Every ill that some try to apply to this generation we faced also. There were just not cameras everywhere recording it. Thank goodness. Words were said by me in an attempt to encourage them and let them know we see them and their efforts, I said:

Instead of talking about young people I wish more people spent time talking with them.

While they carry all of the traits typical of young folks:

  • Loud.
  • Full of energy.
  • Easily distracted at times.

We must remember when we were the same way. I do not know about you but I did not have it together at all when I was young. It was the elders who lifted me up, showed me the way, and believed in me when I did not believe in myself that helped me grow. This generation deserves no less. And above and beyond those traits lifted above I also see:

  • Presence.
    • These young men show up. Rehearsal, event, fellowship, outings they are there.
  • Respect.
    • When we share things with these young men they listen.
    • And they also shared with us last night that we positively impacted their lives. The whole point, no?
  • Dedication.
    • These young men take learning their parts seriously. One youth member could not attend rehearsal due to an ailment and injury but he took it upon himself to learn his part and he was ready for the concert.
  • Accomplishments.
    • In that picture above you will find a recent UNC Chapel Hill graduate, others currently in college, and others working their way through HS as well as being part of musical productions, sports, and other extracurricular activities.
  • Camaraderie.
    • As we are looking out for them I have witnessed them looking out for each other.
  • I could go on but I will stop here.

Reminds of something.

There is good out there as well as evil. One must acknowledge both to maintain hope.

And these young men give me hope for the future.

Welp. Another successful bit of image-capturing therapy with a bit of singing and fellowship thrown in as a bonus.

Happy capturing.
