Film Test: CatLABS X Film 80 II – Fujifilm GA645 Professional.

So I walk into my local camera shop to complete a lens mount brand flip. More on that later. As I restocked film Chris recommended a new arrival at the store. CatLABS X Film 80 II. I missed the version I so here we are. I bought two rolls mainly because I was concerned of a repeat of the first B&W CatLabs film I tried. X Film 320. I only develop with Cinestill df 96 and it took a test roll to sort out that more light, ISO 100, was needed. But after running a quick test roll through a favorite camera…

…I am happy to report ISO 80 worked perfectly with Cinestill df96. Now I can use the second roll for stuff I actually care about instead of running through some old haunts. I also took it along to help my Mom with an errand. Here are the pics.

Thoughts.

I really like this film. I should not be surprised. After an ISO adjustment I am a huge fan of X Film 320…

SIGMA DG EX 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6

…and I also really like their color film.

CatLABS X FILM 100 Color

Great dark tones. Sharp. Very moody. Nice contrast… is that the sam as tones? Anyhoo. I like it.

And this X Film 80 II was also less expensive than the other two? Nice.

Happy capturing.
