Sony A7C II Part 6: Last One. AI Auto Framing Is Low Level Sorcery.

Has been all good with the Sony A7C II so far. After this one, I will default back to my usual photography themes, Scenes Seen and such.

Here I will quickly mention AI Auto Framing. Ok, not sorcery. But impressive. I have tested it but we all are better served by my sharing Shy Young’s video below.

Thoughts.

  • Easy to set up.
  • This does a far better job with subject tracking than I have ever done.
  • I really like that it allows for shoulders up, waist level, and full body tracking.
  • It is very smooth and the resulting video looks very natural.
  • Very sticky. Did a test at my local camera shop, and it did an amazing job holding on to the chosen subject and did not get the least bit confused with others walking through the scene.
  • It just works.

The end result just looks someone running the camera knew what they were doing. Looking at the footage afterward I would have never thought that the video was taken with the camera sat on a tripod and AI running the show. Nice

I really like this camera. A whole lot of upsides with few downsides. It more than meets all of my needs while also offering a unique compact full-frame experience with a recent lens solution release.

Well done Sony.

Happy capturing.
