Analog Therapy/Expired Film: Fujifilm GA645 – Rollei RPX 100.
On a recent camera shop visit I had no plans on buying film… but they had marked down expired film. This is the third roll of expired film purchased that day.
How could I pass that up?
- It could be a smashing bargain success.
- It could be a crushing disappointment.
Once again. A perk of developing my own film. Worst case I am out the cost of the film and my time. Sounds fair to me. Expired Rollei RPX 100 this time developed at home with Cinestill df96 as usual.
But I have ground rules with expired film. Similar to other films like Phoenix 200 and very low ISO films where one can not expect “normal” results. Ok. One rule.
Do not use it for photographs that I actually want.
Ok. Moving on.
I said in an earlier post that if my goal was to burn through 120 film at an unprecedented pace the GA645 has been a roaring success.
And this day was no different.
What of my Big Bob O’Clock declaration in the title?
I am glad I imagined you asked.
Big Bob’s City Grill is a local restaurant I frequent. Often on Fridays once the work day ends to celebrate the formal start to the weekend. Everything there is good but my favorite, or at least what I order most frequently, would be the lemon pepper wings. As I prepare to exit I will declare that it is Big Bob O’Clock which is the signal for orders to be placed.
This day, including a delivery to my Mom, I brought this rig along for the trip determined to finish the roll before returning home. And I succeeded. Nothing Earth shattering and I lost two frames to hubris. Purely user error trying something that many new digital cameras would not have dealt with well. Anyhoo. Here are the surviving frames with a couple of thoughts after.
Big Bob’s interior and exterior.
A long spin around the block while waiting for my order. Also where I lost two frames due to hubris.
The drop off to Mom.
Thoughts.
This lens did not suffer much from being past it’s use date. The negatives looked great.
That is about it.
Another successful analog therapy session.
Happy capturing.
