Scenes Seen: Sony ZV-1.

Another episode of documenting day to day life while looking for beauty hiding in plain sight masquerading as the mundane.

I have written a lot lately about gear. Yes the gear itself but also about my shifting relationship with gear. In the past I have talked about how the latest and greatest digital gear is no longer necessary for me. Much like today’s family sedans that can outrun many of the cars I had posters of on my wall as a child they simply perform well past my use case. As I have joked in the past, what do I need with sub 5 second 0-60 times? It’s not like I am out here in the streets racing other Dads for pink slips. Similarly recent cameras have some specs that I can honestly say I will never put to use in the real world. Given a choice I prefer film cameras. This led me down a vintage digital path where I found that very old cameras can meet most of my needs. Which led me to denounce my full frame only way of thinking. First MFT and now a 1″ sensor camera. That camera is the tool of the day.

Sony ZV-1

A camera that fully embraces good enough image quality in a truly portable package. It does not displace other more “serious” gear. But it is perfect for day to day use. Here are my most recent captures. Nothing Earth shattering. Just going about my day. Picking up some film and brought along while getting a roll of film through a camera at a familiar haunt of mine.

Parting thoughts.

This is a perfect film camera companion. I brought with during the day, threw this into the backpocket of my jeans while using the film camera, took pics intermittently, and converted to it entirely once I finished my roll of film. Nice.

I go into this in greater length in my last post of this camera. Gor this post I will just cut and paste the opening to my ramble-fest.

First the obvious.

This is not the perfect or best camera.

Obvious. But…

It is the camera that captures images that I would not have otherwise.

It balances accessibility and capability in a way that few other cameras can match.

Another successful fit of capturing scenes seen.

Happy capturing.
