Dadism.

My Father always challenged me to ask the correct questions of myself.

The question is not why do those put on pedestals disappoint, but why were they put on a pedestal?

The question is not why someone made you angry, but why did you grant those unworthy of such influence the power to do so?

The question is not why do people disappoint you time and time again, but why do you still expect better from those who continually disappoint you?

He implored me to recognize that all I have control over is myself, the way I think, and how I react and behave. As long as I depend on others to change my situation, my situation will never change.
