I recently wrote a post about the <inhales deeply> Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF Autofocus Lens.
Quick recap:
I want one.
I will not be getting one.
There is another lens I already have that fills the occasional wide angle need.
Two perks were pointed out.
- It costs considerably less new and if memory serves I bought mine used so I saved more.
- One might raise the point about AF but the MF variant costs the same.
- It is also a fisheye lens.
While not a rectilinear lens appropriate use of the Lightroom stick, aka the Rokinon 7.5 Fisheye lens profile in this case, is good for a quick de-fisheye.
…can be turned into a reasonable facsimile of a rectilinear image.
At the conclusion of that post I stated:
I really need to get the TTArtisan out and take it for a spin.
And I did exactly that. Here are the results from a quick drive.
First a quick test.
So… Do I still want the Laowa? Yes.
But for now, I am good.
Happy capturing.
