Analog Therapy, Father/Son Galavanting: Fujifilm GA645 + Rollei RPX 400.

Undeterred by a recent low pic count with my last roll of film I went on to another roll of film.

A relatively late analog acquisition but I heart it just the same. <inhales deeply> A high quality film medium format camera with accurate autofocus, accurate auto exposure, an impeccable lens, and a built in flash all in a compact body that is light in hand and can be thrown in a camera bag pocket suitable for a small zoom… What’s not to like?

The film for the day was Rollei RPX 400. After being underwhelmed by the dark images produced when set to ISO 400 and using Cinestill df96. So this time out I went with ISO 200 with no development adjustment. The occasion was another father/son galavanting episode.

Still low light with a relatively low ISO and an f/4 lens. So once again a few images were lost. Add in user error while developing and there was some odd cloudiness… but I am good. Honestly, the photos were not the point. Spending time with my son was.

Here are the five surviving frames.

This is one of the pics when a rushed/absent minded episode where I dumped out some chemistry while agitating resulted in foggy patches. An odd result to me since I quickly added more chemistry and would have thought bands on one side of the film would have been the result, not odd blobs that impacted another exposure and completely took out another frame. Anyhoo. It was a portrait image but a quick landscape crop got rid of most of the offending part of the frame. I am really glad the bottom of the frame was impacted and that the upper portion of my son was preserved because I rather like this image. Also digging the flash effect. Without it there is no way this frame would have come out.

Another successful father/son galavanting episode… and the pictures are cool too.

Happy capturing.
