Pastoral Anniversary Session: One Lens.

Background.

Pastor Derrick Thorpe serves at the church my parents attend…

Mom and Dad. A wonderful man.

…and gave a wonderful eulogy at my Father’s funeral a few years ago. For that I will be forever grateful.

So any time he calls me up for a photo session I try my best to make myself available. Whether it be for a portrait session…

…or an event. This day I was asked to assist with the latter. His 9th Pastoral Anniversary.

The lens?

Lens Test - Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD

Of course. It covers everything, performs wonderfully across the focal range, and I heart it. I find it to be especially good for events with mixed or low lighting where a fast zoom with a wide focal range can be very helpful.

No flash was used this day. All available light. And the 35-150mm really shined. Here are some of my favorite images from the day.

I said in an earlier post that I could make do with just this one lens and a recent Sony body… or recent Nikon body also since they make a Z mount now also. In that portrait centric post I also mentioned an AD300. Last year for the same event I used a V1 on camera at times due to the low lighting. But since then I have grown to trust the low light capabilities of the 35-150mm and it did not disappoint.

That about wraps things up. Another successful event session.

Happy capturing.
