As stated in my first post about this lens I have bought yet another FE mount 50mm lens. Had no plans to purchase one. Stumbled across it while trolling KEH’s website for lowest price FE lenses.
Then in a day 2 post I mentioned how I worked out the difference between a shift lens I had in the past…
…and this one. I also mentioned how day 2 did away with any concerns that I was too optimistic initially. In that same post I found myself a rooftop and some manner of elevated setting to get my forced perspective miniaturization on. And I was pleased.
That was the day that I discovered that I really like tilt lenses.
But here is another thing that I like about this lens. While not using the 1:1 macro feature nor exploiting shift to address the wayward verticals the 15mm Laowa was not a lens I would use as a daily carry lens. But left untitled this is a rather nice, and nice looking, 50mm f/1.4 lens.
So once I was done looking for faux miniaturization scenarios I was happy to let it stay on the camera.
- Balances well on an A7C.
- Both the focus and aperture rings have a nicely weighted, smooth movement to them.
- And as I seem to not be able to stop mentioning I like the way it looks.
So with that, I will stop talking and just show the sample images I took out and about including a stop by a local antique shop.
Have taken photos there before, but like I mentioned in my last post I like how this added functionality allows me to see scenes in a new way at locations I have photographed plenty of times before. On to the images.
From here forward I will no longer indicate which are tilted or not. For most it is obvious. But it you cannot tell than
Once again, I count that as a success. Great fun while taking the pics and I am happy with the resulting images. That is a win-win. A lot of fun for not a lot of spend. Well done TTArtisans… again.
Happy capturing.
