Had a fever to run through a roll of film. Had no idea what to capture. So I took along my trusty and terribly named Pentax *ist and 50mm f/1.4 as I ran some errands.
For film I chose CatLABS X-Film 320 B&W. A great film that I have found plays well with standard Cinestill df96 (A freshly mixed batch.) development if shot at ISO 100.
As a disclaimer, I took little to no care in framing or focusing. My thinking was that if I got a shot great. If I did not, no big deal since the film is reasonably priced and I develop the film myself so not loss out of pocket. Despite my haphazard shooting, I did accomplish my goal of completing a roll in short order and a few exposures survived. Here they are.
As I often say, nothing Earth shattering. But if you had witnessed how I took these photos would be a bit surprised that any frames survived at all. For many of the frames above I did not bother to put my eye up to the camera. Many of the frames I did not share were either framed (even more) poorly, out of focus, or the wrong subject was in focus. All user error. The camera trying to accommodate for the carelessness of the photographer. That is the only downside I have when using this camera. Other cameras demand much of you which can lead to carefully composed photographs. The *ist is so competent as focus and exposure that I tend to be a bit cavalier. Not the camera’s fault. I could be as careful as with any camera if I chose to be. But I am usually not. Anyhoo.
A fine camera and film.
Happy capturing.
